Join us for Wakeful Wednesdays.

Wakeful Wednesdays are a half-hour “virtual sit” for law students hosted by MILS at 4:00 p.m. (CT) every Wednesday. Any law student is welcome to attend, although we encourage students to get involved and become a member. The format generally consists of about 20 minutes of guided meditation, with 5 minutes of gathering time at the beginning and 5 minutes for questions and comments.

The National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being, whose members include the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility, the Conference of Chief Justices, and the National Center for State Courts, recommends mindfulness meditation as a way for lawyers to reduce stress and promote well-being and balance in their lives.

About the Chapter

The Alabama Chapter is one of the first MILS Chapters. The Alabama Chapter signed its charter in January of 2019 and held its first meeting in the Spring of 2019. The chapter is led by its chairman Emily Hornsby and co-chair Susan Han.

Our current members represent a wide range of legal professionals, including attorneys, law school professors, students & administrators, law firm administrators and others interested in well-being in the legal profession. Chapter gatherings are held monthly and frequently start with a meditation.

If you are interested in learning about how you can become a member of MILS’s Alabama Chapter, email Emily Hornsby at ehornsby@mhlaw.net or Susan Han at susan@nettleshanlaw.com
