The mission of the Mindfulness in Law Society is to enhance well-being in the legal profession by educating legal professionals about the benefits of mindfulness meditation, yoga, and other contemplative practices.

Our distinguished and esteemed chapter 😉 was formed in March 2023 and is headed by the illustrious Kara Perry and the luminous Joseph Gerstel. Kara is a lawyer, adjunct professor, certified yoga and meditation instructor, mindfulness teacher and the founder of Just Brilliant LLC. She has a passion for helping legal professionals reduce stress, increase resilience, and improve decision-making through mindfulness practices. 

Joseph Gerstel is a (sometimes practicing) lawyer and the irreverent author of the Excellent at Life mindfulness newsletter on living a wise life. Joseph also runs a community for lawyer founders/entrepreneurs and is active in the startup ecosystem, running pitch events and other fun programs like that.

We are excited to offer a variety of events and resources to support the integration of mindfulness into the legal profession. Our goal is to create a supportive and friendly space for all legal professionals interested in mindfulness, especially in the New York/New Jersey area, which thankfully includes most of the known world.

For a regular weekly practice, we encourage you to join your favorite mindfulness instructors from the MILS community with two free 30-minute virtual guided mindfulness meditation gatherings each week on Zoom, Mindful Monday at 3pm Eastern time, and Wakeful Wednesday at 5pm Eastern time. There is no need to sign-up, just click on the above links (or the link on the MILS website) at the scheduled time to join the Zoom meeting.
