Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Collaborative (DEI)


Statement of Purpose

The Mindfulness In Law Society (MILS) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Collaborative (DEI) supports the full and equal access to, and participation by all individuals in MILS, the legal profession, and the justice system regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other unique attribute. We acknowledge the suffering caused by racism and bias against Black, Brown, Indigenous, Queer, Trans, and immigrant lawyers, law students, and other legal professionals. The MILS DEI Collaborative exists to support MILS in ensuring that our organization, programming and outreach are as diverse , equitable and inclusive as possible. Most importantly the DEI Collaborative recognizes that achieving diversity in MILS and the legal profession requires continued intentional effort and commitment. The overarching purpose of the MILS DEI Collaborative is to explore how mindfulness can facilitate and help navigate the challenges to inclusion in the legal profession and the challenges to inclusion to society as a whole.
